Acceptable Use Policy

Last Updated: March 23, 2026 · Version 1.0

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) describes what you may and may not do when using Notis. It exists to protect all users and to ensure Notis remains a trusted tool for legitimate document signing and verification.

This AUP is part of the Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms.

2. Permitted Uses

Notis is designed for lawful document signing, sealing, and verification. You may use Notis to:

(a) Seal and sign contracts, agreements, and other business documents;

(b) Create and manage non-disclosure agreements;

(c) Verify the integrity and authenticity of sealed documents;

(d) Generate cryptographic audit trails for document workflows;

(e) Any other lawful purpose consistent with Notis’s intended function as a document signing tool.

3. Prohibited Uses

You may not use Notis to:

(a) Forge or misrepresent. Create documents that falsely claim to be issued by a person, organization, or government entity, or forge another person’s signature or identity;

(b) Commit fraud. Sign or seal documents in furtherance of any fraudulent scheme, scam, or deceptive practice;

(c) Violate laws. Create, seal, or sign documents that violate applicable local, state, national, or international laws or regulations;

(d) Infringe rights. Use Notis in a way that infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party;

(e) Harass or threaten. Create documents that harass, threaten, defame, or intimidate any person;

(f) Abuse the relay. Use the Encrypted Relay Service to transmit malware, spam, or any content unrelated to legitimate signing workflows;

(g) Reverse engineer. Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Notis, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law;

(h) Circumvent security. Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with any security feature of Notis or the Encrypted Relay Service;

(i) Impersonate Collatio. Represent yourself as an agent, employee, or representative of Collatio, or claim that your documents have been endorsed or verified by Collatio;

(j) Automated abuse. Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with Notis in a way that degrades service for other users.

4. Document Type Limitations

Important: Electronic signatures are not legally valid for all document types. Before using Notis for a critical document, verify that your jurisdiction permits electronic signatures for that document type. Common exclusions include wills, certain family law documents, court orders, and some real estate transactions.

Collatio does not verify whether a document type is suitable for electronic signature in your jurisdiction. That responsibility is yours (see Terms of Service, Section 4).

5. Enforcement

If we become aware of a violation of this AUP, we may:

(a) Suspend or terminate your access to the Encrypted Relay Service;

(b) Report the activity to appropriate law enforcement authorities;

(c) Take any other action we reasonably believe is necessary to protect our users and the integrity of the service.

Because Notis operates primarily on your device, enforcement actions are limited to the Relay Service and any Collatio-hosted components. Local cryptographic operations are not affected by enforcement actions.

6. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is using Notis in violation of this AUP, please contact us at abuse@collatio.io with as much detail as possible.

7. Changes

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated at least thirty (30) days before they take effect.
